I am pissed! Horribly. terribly pissed! Never in my life has I been to such a "erxin" interview. The job is recemmended by some job agencies in Tanjong Pagar. Basically, this is a 6 mths contract assignment, converting to perm, subjected to performance. I dropped by the agency at ard 4plus for registration and then went for the interview at this XX company at 6.30pm at Novena Square.

I was early, so shopped ard at Novena Square, and had my dinner at Long John Silver.

Back to this XX company, when I reached there, there was no receptionist, no one attended to me, so I managed to sneak in as someone was leaving the office. They have a very cool door opening system, where you can scan your foot or hand then the door opens automatically. I called this guy who was in charge of the interview and told him that I am at the receptionist. Mistake no1. In fact, the place is not the receptionist, it was the training counter which I realised like ten minutes later. So, I proceeded to the actual receptionist. First impression of this guy, speaks with a slang, someone who looks promising and smart, appears friendly too. Let's name him GW.

GW then lead me to this interview room, and began to dig up some papers and open his laptop. He told me that there are 3 stages to this interview. Prior to this, GW will tell me more and in details of the job scope in this company. First, he will ask me questions about my resume. Second, he will ask me questions(Formal one instructed by the company). Third, he will get me to do some assignments to sort of access my skills. I thought, what is wrong with this person or company since they only require a contract stuff? So many things, confirm jialatz..

Anyway, his first question was have you heard about XX company? Being honest, I said no, appearing like a "mountain turtle" to him. Howver, I added on saying that I've surfed the website and know roughly what the company is dealing with and stuff. Oh, the position is called Category Management Analyst. Chim title. Job scope is sort of data management, generate reports. In short, translate data into reports, then into proposals and into presentations for clients. Frankly speaking, tink you can learn a lot in this job as there is really a lot of room for development, and the career prospects seem promising. Anyway, I was already feeling half-hearted when he told me that he worked till 2am last Sunday. After he has completed on the description of the job scope, it was already past 7.30pm. Can you imagine??????? lol

Everything was quite okie, until when he asked me questions like, so what did you learn or gain from your school apart from academic skills? I started to hesitate and started talking crap cos' I din really prepare questions like this. I espcially hate it when people ask me questions like "What do you want to do in life," "What are your area of interests" Seriously, think most of my friends know that I am totally aimless, simply like bumming arround. So, I just told him general things I am willing to learn, experience new stuff, blah, blah, blah.

Things got worse, when we proceeded to Part 2 of the interview.

Qn 1: Give me a situation when you have made a big significant impact/change life/ when working in the company. What the heck? I was thinking why so diff one???? Ma chiam like this job is some high flyer job that requires rounds and rounds of interview. I am really not good in words, as agreed by most of my friends. So, I told GW honestly that the jobs that I've taken up seriously does not require me to make any significant impacts or changes. Not satisfied with my answer, he started to give hints like not necessary have to be in the work force or what, and he told me that in this question, he will be able to access the suitability of me to the job.

Qn2: Given limited resources and time, say you have to complete a certain piece of assignment within the deadline, how are you able to do it?

Qn3: Give me an example when you had to make a major decision and how you had to deal with it. This was really the killer question. I honestly din know how to answer it, and guess what, I told him about the decision that I've quit my previous perm job. After blurting that out, I realised that it did not well demonstrated my rationality and to generate good in decision making. Somehow, I knew that I won't be able to make it thru this long, agonising, stressful interview. And, I shouldn't embarass myself further, and felt that the more I say, the more shallow and ignorant I am. I told GW upfront that I am gonna flunk this interview. I din want to waste his time as well. He tried to be nice, saying that in interviews there isn't anything like pass or fail...Nt sure if he just trying to be sacastic or wat lor.

After that we did not proceed on to the last few questions and even skipped the Stage 3 completely. He started giving me this mini lecture on "Tips on Interview" He claimed that he went for a total of 36 interviews for fun since the day he started looking for a job and his experience can be written into a book. GW pointed out that the way I was seated was too laidback and I should lean slightly forward and place my hands on the table instead of resting them on my legs or on the chair. But the aircon was damn cold ma! Cannot put on the seat meh???? On top of that, I should act enthu, interested, eager or desperately to get the job. I felt that this is not me. Honest bu ke yi ma? I dun wan to fake here and there then later end up, I am not able to perform the task given to me that I claimed I can do during the interview lor. Then he asked me to prepare the possible questions that the interviewer will ask if I really want the job a lot. How on earth would I know the interview is going to be in this way, since this is only a CONTRACT position. And, I did prepare a bit what, just that the questions you asked were the really difficult ones! GW told me this which really puts me off. Go to a job interview that won't waste your time or waste the other's party time. "I only go to job interview that will make my time and effort worth, and if the company can afford to pay my worth" What arrogance!!!!! He then handed me his namecard, tried to be nice saying that I can ask him out for movies, or if I've found a nice job, I can email or contact him. What shit!

I rather spend afternoon at gym and then back home watching "Tong Xin Yuan" today. lol
