This is something I really like to share... I was a super unsatisfied and unhappy passenger last evening! Took a cab from IMM to Raffles Place for my Jap class. It was then raining heavily when I took the cab from the taxi stand at IMM. Once I hopped onto the cab, I said, "Uncle, Raffles Place, Asia Insurance Building." I even tot of taking a short nap after that, but guess what? This China man(with his heavy accent) started asking me if Raffles Place is at Orchard Road, and even ask me if I know how to go and the directions, etc....I was like a bit sian, and shoot him back saying that I dunno that's why I took a cab...Okie, fine, the time I boarded the cab was at 1747. Pls bear in mind that my lesson starts at 1830 sharp. The uncle says that it's okie, and he will try to figure it out, should be around "the area" which he claimed to be. He then passed me his map, and requested me to search for the place! I nearly fainted! There was actually jam somewhere thru the journey, so I was like asking him what time can I reach. He keep on insisting that he cannot confirm due to unpredicatable traffic conditions. It was almost 1830 already. Then, he had the cheek to say, "Xiao Jie, if I know that the journey is so long, I'd could have dropped you at Jurong East, then from there you can take a MRT to Raffles Place, tink it will be much faster." I was like quite pissed off when he said that. Do you tink I'd be so stupid to spend so much money and then to reach my area of destination only like more then an hr later? He even complained that he din earn much after deducting this and that etc. F***If it wasnt raining, I would have jolly well alighted and rather flag for the next one! And yes, I only managed to reach almost at 1900. I told him clearly that I paid only $10.50 from Raffles Place to IMM earlier... It was the first time I've ever sat in the cab for so long, and it wasn't even mid-night charge. This guy completely had no idea where the this building was! Keep on asking me issit AIA, or some other insurance company. Guess what, he told me that he will drop me at Lau Pa Sat area, as he cant find the building. It was still raining, and he wanted to drop me there, can you believe it? Then what for do I need to take a cab, if I still have to walk to my area of destination? I was able to recognise the building, so I insisted to drop only at my destination and started to give him directions from there. As I din expect the cab fare to be like more then $15(In fact it was $21.50-doube of what I paid earlier). In fact the earlier trip took me onli 15mins to reach! I do not have any more cash with me. I got Ah Hui to meet me downstairs. Thank God. I then insisted not to pay the full sum, as I thought that it is not at all fair to me. Ultimately, he demanded $20. There are actually a few more things which I wanted to add on. We nearly get into an accident during the journey, in fact twice. It was already raining very heavily, but he still wind down his window screen to go and clean the edges or something. Resulting him mounting a kerb. There was a pedestrian on the path like just a few metres ahead. Nearly hit him man, guess he got a shock as well. Next, he drove so close to another car, that he nearly brushed along side. Lastly, I hate it when he doesn't put his hands on his steering wheel, in fact not even one hand on it and started to drink water. I caught him doing it twice. I really wonder how he managed to get his taxi's license, in fact even his driving license? Issit really that easy to get one, without observing rules and regulations, and most important, safety of not only you yourself, but also your passengers? Their lives are at the mercy of your hands. I took down his taxi no as well as his name, I am still comtemplating whether to report this a not.
